Plus you'd still need the keyboard for typing names of save files.
You'd still be using a mouse pointer and the controls would not be like the PS2 UI would have been, so you'd be better off with an actual mouse and keyboard anyways. In this way, you can use the PS3/PS4 controller in place of a mouse and control the UI in Madden 08. The computer will then allow you to control the mouse and play games that accept xbox controller inputs using the PS3/PS4 controller.
You can set up a PS3 or PS4 controller using DS3 or DS4 software to fool Windows into thinking the PS3/PS4 controller is an Xbox controller. There is a half-ass workaround available. I keep my mouse near me in case I need to pause and access the depth chart or make substitutions.
Once I'm in-game though, I just pick up my Logitech Rumble Pad 2 and start using that.
It's quicker than using a controller to move a cursor over each option and press a button once you get to the one you want.
And besides, many people actually enjoy the mouse and keyboard controls on the out-of-game UI in Madden for PC vs the PS2 UI. You're just going to have to deal with it. It's the way the game is programmed and laid out. Even then though, the UI was still mouse and keyboard. I'm not sure on this, but I think the earliest Madden for PC to support a controller may have been '04 or '05. Some of the older Maddens couldn't even support controllers on PC. The UI was designed for a mouse and keyboard. That said, the reason there's not a way is simple. To answer your question: No, there isn't a way to allow a controller to use the User Interface (UI) in the Maddens for PC up until 08. I know this is an old question, but rather than leaving it unanswered forever, I figured I'd go ahead and take a stab at it. I'm trying to use my gamepad to navigate through the menu and in team selection and things like that, but for some reason the keyboard is the default and I can only use my gamepad in game. I wonder how that was allow.Garvey14 wrote:Hey guys, this isn't really a huge problem but it does irritate me at times. They need to fix that.ītw, Madden screwed up the first year for the Texans, I remember their logo was going in one direction on both sides. Yet if you have an away unis, the middle color will be white. The middle color defaults to the top color like for instance if you have a red unis, then the middle color will be red. You cannot make a away unis all white if you have 3 colors pants. If you make a different unis, you have to use their own customization.Ģ) the one thing that bothers me is the pants with 3 stripes. Plus I would like to change the color of existing teams too like a red alt for the current Pats unis. I want an all blue Titans I should be able to do that. I know that would be crazy but I want my freedom to do that. Nor can you mix and match unis like for instance if you wanted a Orange top/ Teal pants for the Dolphins. You can't just use the current unis and change the color. Like for instance, lets say you wanted to make a alt for the Colts using a black top. There are 2 things about that feature I really hate and they need to improve on:ġ) you cannot change the look of a CURRENT unis. Sadly, I dont think this is much of a priority for the developers. jpegs to the harddrive and replace faces, jerseys etc in game? Plus, with rumors surrounding XBox 360 (or whatever its called) and that it may be able to interact with your home PC.pfff, who knows? Maybe you'll be able to upload. And I think one racing game on that system let you paint your car anyway you liked. Stupid N64 Mariopaint or whatever had a rudimentary brush tool.
They've paid a huge price for the NFL license and won't risk losing it.īut I would hope against hope, that another developer would give us full flexibility in the hopes of gaining a small market share.
They have no incentive to give us all we've been hoping for (on this topic) now. I would think EA locking up the NFL rights for Madden would only FURTHER limit us. Why on earth they would care is beyond me but I totally believe it. If what you guys are saying is true ( and i have no reason to doubt you) the NFL has been intentionally limiting our options for changing uniforms of existing teams in game. We'd all like more flexibility I think the custom uni arena.
